Fireworks, Food, Model Trains and Vintage Baseball Are in the Spotlight at Hartford’s Adriaen’s Landing – July 11

Make a day trip – All-day events for the entire family on the Riverfront

(Hartford, CT) – From imagination exploration and the glow of fireworks, to model trains and vintage base ball, Adriaen’s Landing in Hartford, Conn. is the perfect Staycation destination this Saturday, July 11.

“From the Old State House to the Riverfront, Adriaen’s Landing District will be filled with energy on July 11,” says Mike Costelli, General Manager of the Connecticut Convention Center, a member of the Rising Star Committee which sponsors the Destination Hartford Promotions. “There aren’t many locations in the state where you can interact with history, try hands-on science workshops, audition for a network game show, eat and enjoy fireworks all within a walk-able area.”

The weekend’s line-up of events stretch from the new Connecticut Science Center to Colt Park, and parking couldn’t be more convenient.

Visitors can park ALL DAY for $9 at the Riverfront/Connecticut Science Center Garage on Grove Street and the Connecticut Convention Center garage with entrances on Columbus Boulevard and Grove Street.

A great way to the start the day is at the new Connecticut Science Center at 250 Columbus Boulevard. Filled with mind-challenging interactive exhibits, the hours are 10:00 a.m.-5:00 p.m. General Admission is $16 for adults, $14.50 for seniors (65+), $13 for youth 3-17 and FREE for kids ages 2 and under.

Next Stop, all aboard for the National Train Show, making its first-ever New England stop at the Connecticut Convention Center, 100 Columbus Boulevard. The show features the latest in model train equipment, train scapes, and the Incredible Lego® Miniland. 10:00 a.m.-6:00 p.m. Admission: $12 for adults; $11 for seniors; $6 for youth 6-12, FREE for kids under age 6.

Make Some Time for History, at the Old State House at 800 Main Street. Play old-fashioned games and dress up in period costumes. Doors are open from 10:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. and is a short block away from the Science Center.

Head Over to the Wadsworth Atheneum Museum of Art for a Museum Highlights Tour from 2:30 p.m. and stay and view the screening of “Our City Dreams”, all FREE OF CHARGE!

Sports Fans can enjoy some good old fashion competition at the Vintage Base Ball Riverfest Games at the Hartford Base Ball Grounds at Colt Meadows starting at 1:30pm, FREE OF CHARGE.

…And Down by the Riverside, enjoy food, live entertainment, casting for the TV game show Deal or No Deal, plus fireworks at Riverfront Riverfest starting at 4:00pm. It’s one of the largest, most exciting fireworks display in Central Connecticut – and It’s FREE!
