Microscopy Society of America Highlights the 2014 Annual Microscopy and Microanalysis Meeting

Reston, VA (May 27, 2014, 2014) The Microscopy Society of America’s (MSA) annual Microscopy & Microanalysis 2014 (M&M 2014) meeting will take place August 3-7, 2014 in Hartford, Connecticut. M&M 2014 promises to have a strong international flavor: the quadrennial meeting of the International Union of Microbeam Analysis Societies (IUMAS), will be held in conjunction with M&M 2014, which will also be joined by the Microscopical Society of Canada / Société de Microscopie du Canada (MSC/SMC).

This year’s program highlights include:

  • Plenary lecture from Professor Colin Humphreys (University of Cambridge, UK): “How Cutting-Edge Atomic Resolution Microscopy Can Help to Solve Some of the World’s Energy Problems”
  • Plenary lecture from Professor Brian J. Ford (University of Cambridge, UK): “Living Images from the Birth of Microscopy”
  • Distinguished Scientist Awardee Talks in Biology from Professor Wah Chiu (Baylor College of Medicine, TX) and Physical Science from Professor David Smith (Arizona State University, AZ)
  • Various tutorials, tech forums and outreach sessions in both the physical and biological sciences
