TEAM CONNECTICUT CONVENTION CENTER RUNS IN SANDY HOOK 5K

Back to Press

HARTFORD, CT (March 27, 2013) –  Over 15,000 runners came out to show their support for Newtown during the Sandy Hook Run for the Families 5K on Saturday, March 23.  Among the crowd flooding the Downtown Hartford streets was a team from the Connecticut Convention Center.

The team was made up of 15 Connecticut Convention Center associates, family members, and friends, including one virtual runner in Florida.  Although the runners’ purpose for participating was to support a great cause, the team had some outstanding performances.  Representing the Center was Janel Opeka, who finished first for her age group and seventh for overall female.  Steven Clayton, another Connecticut Convention Center associate, made a quick break out of the gate and finished fourth overall.

“We are so proud of our team,” said Michael Costelli, General Manager for the Connecticut Convention Center.  “Not only for their individual accomplishments, but for their support of the local community as well.”
