2008 Connecticut International Auto Show
This Year’s Show to Focus on Fuel Solutions

HARTFORD, CT— The Connecticut International Auto Show will be showcasing the latest in fuel efficient options and new technologies on November 21-23, 2008 at the Connecticut Convention Center.

The Connecticut International Auto Show has grown again, as we successfully expanded to two levels last year at the Connecticut Convention Center-resulting in even greater car line participation. The show now fills the entire Convention Center, utilizing both the exhibit hall and upper ballroom to accommodate all the participating 2009 models on display.

"Fuel Solutions" is the theme at the Connecticut International Auto Show!

The newest hybrid models will be showcased, including the latest from General Motors, Ford, and Toyota. Volkswagen and Honda are also showing their fuel efficient models with the Jetta TDI clean diesel line, and the new Honda Fit. The Smart Car, known for its compact size, will also be at the Show!

Attendees have the convenience of shopping all the showrooms under one roof. The Connecticut International Auto Show is now also a place where you can fuel your passion for those dream cars. The Auto Show will feature a display of exotic cars including Bentley, Ferrari, Aston Martin, and Maserati. The luxury lines and exotics are now located in the upstairs ballroom, complete with a live jazz band to play soothing tunes as you peruse your favorite vehicles.

Muscle Mania is also coming to the show, courtesy of Papa’s Dodge Chrysler Jeep. They will be bringing in classic cars of the early 70’s, including the 1971 R/T Challenger. Attendees will have the chance to compare this to the all-new Challenger, on display at the Dodge booth. The Challenger will be auctioned on E-Bay December 1-7, in support of the Shriners Hospital of Springfield. Prizes will be given away each hour, and one lucky attendee will even win a 2009 Dodge Journey, courtesy of the New England Dodge Dealers!

CAMERAS
Feel free to bring your camera and video recorder down to the show!  There's lots of great photo opportunities and pictures will help later on as you narrow your car purchase list!

Hot Shots of 2009
There will be hundreds of 2009 models at the Auto Show, where you can compare features, options, and pricing on the latest vehicles. Here are some of the new models, including fuel efficient options, that will be at the show:

ACURA TL
Since inception, the Acura TL performance luxury sedan has set lofty standards for styling, performance, comfort and technology. Available for 2009, the all-new fourth-generation Acura TL comes with a choice of two VTEC powertrains (including a new 305 hp V-6) and the TL's first-ever application of Super Handling All-Wheel Drive-the TL SH-AWD.

BUICK ENCLAVE
There’s more power under the hood in 2009 for this popular eight-passenger crossover that has lead resurgence at Buick. It now comes with a direct-injection 3.6-liter V-6 under the hood, good for 288 horsepower (13 more than the 2008 model). The Enclave will offer heated and cooled front seats, Bluetooth phone connectivity, XM NavTraffic, and the latest version of OnStar.

CADILLAC CTS-V
The new Cadillac CTS-V has a 6.2-liter supercharged V8 (derived from the LS9 in the Corvette ZR1) that produces 556 horsepower and 551 pound-feet of torque. Top speeds are in excess of 175 mph and 0-60 times are reported in the 4 second range.

*CHRYSLER ASPEN HYBRID
The popular Aspen SUV gets an optional full-hybrid electric version with Chrysler’s two-mode hybrid system. The best news is it’s paired with a 5.7-liter Hemi V-8 with a cylinder management system. This is a hybrid that gets 19-mpg city and 20-mpg highway ratings. The Aspen also will offer satellite TV and a new navigation system.

*DODGE RAM PICKUP
The pickup wars heat up with the introduction of the 2009 Ram 1500. It gets the nod in the engine face-off with a top-of-the-line 5.7-liter Hemi with 390 horsepower and 407 pound-feet of torque. With new variable valve timing, cylinder deactivation, and improved aerodynamics, Dodge says fuel economy will improve 10 to 20 percent.

FORD F-150 PICKUP
Redesigned for 2009, every piece of sheetmetal has been changed, the interior has been changed, and the chassis has been revised. Power will come from an E85-compatible 24-valve, 5.4-liter V-8 with 320 hp; a 24-valve, 4.6-liter V-8 with 280 hp; and a 16-valve, 4.6-liter V-8 with 250 hp

*GMC SIERRA HYBRID
The 2009 GMC Sierra Hybrid is a powerful, full-size pickup that achieves 40-percent greater city fuel economy and a 25-percent improvement in overall fuel economy while delivering the capability expected of a full-size truck – including a 6,100-pound towing capacity. Partnering General Motors’ patented two-mode hybrid system and a powerful 6.0L gas V-8, the Sierra Hybrid delivers highly efficient performance, including all-electric driving up to 30 mph.

HUMMER H3T
The all-new H3T is a truck based on the architecture of the popular H3, but features a five-passenger crew cab and a separate five-foot-long bed. The H3T is bigger than a midsize truck and smaller than a full-size truck, creating its own niche in the market. It is the only midsize truck to come standard with full-time four-wheel drive, 32-inch tires and functional skid shield, as well as front and rear locking differentials and 33-inch tires.

HYUNDAI ELANTRA TOURING
Making its United States debut, the all-new 2009 Elantra Touring is a sportier, more functional variant of Hyundai’s popular Elantra sedan. Among its other attributes, it stands out for being the first compact five-door with standard electronic stability control. It also has the most interior volume (passenger volume plus cargo space) of any five-door in its class.

*JEEP GRAND CHEROKEE
In 2009, the Grand Cherokee gets the new 5.7-liter Hemi V-8 with 357 hp and 389-lb. ft. of torque with new variable valve timing and fuel-saving cylinder-deactivation technology. Owners who opt for the even more powerful 6.1-liter Hemi V-8, the SRT-8, can dial up their performance results by consulting the performance pages display that offers up info on g-force, 0-60 times, and quarter-mile speeds and times, as well as braking distance.

KIA BORREGO
Kia Motors America (KMA) continues to broaden its product line-up with the arrival of the all-new seven-passenger Borrego midsize SUV. Borrego runs on regular unleaded and achieves class-leading fuel economy of 15/22 city/highway for its V8 with two-wheel drive, and a respectable 15/20 city/highway for the four-wheel drive.

LEXUS IS SEDANS
The Lexus IS sedans showcase revised styling and gain enhanced interior function and improved handling for 2009. New suspension and steering tuning improve stability and control, and the IS 250 model, in both rear-wheel drive and all-wheel drive models, gets the advanced Vehicle Dynamics Integrated Management (VDIM) system.

MAZDA MAZDA6
The Mazda6 is powered by either the MZR 170-hp 2.5-liter DOHC I-4 engine or the MZI 272-hp 3.7-liter V-6 engine teamed with a six-speed Sport AT automatic transmission equipped with a manual shift mode. Very low lift at high speeds and in cross winds improves both directional stability and driver confidence.

*MERCEDES BlueTEC (ML 320, GL 320, R 320)
For 2009, Mercedes-Benz is launching three new sport utility models powered by new-generation BlueTEC diesel engines that are impressively clean, fast and quiet. These vehicles are powered by an innovative three-liter V6 diesel engine that combines the powerful torque of a V8 engine with the great fuel mileage of a four-cylinder engine.

*MERCURY MARINER
A new powertrain lineup, with a more powerful and fuel-efficient 2.5-liter I-4 engine and a new six-speed automatic transmission, leads the list of enhancements for the 2009 Mercury Mariner. The Mariner for 2009 also introduces Easy Fuel capless refueling, ambient lighting and standard cruise control. A 3.0-liter V-6 engine with 20 percent more horsepower is also available.

PONTIAC G8
Leading the charge for 2009 is the G8 performance sedan, a rear-drive car that has garnered praise from the automotive press and enthusiasm from new owners. A high-performance G8 GXP model joins the lineup in late 2008, packing a 400 hp 6.2L V-8 and offers razor-sharp ride and handling traits that give driving enthusiasts an attractive alternative to sports cars costing far more. New features for all ’09 G8s include XM Satellite Radio and Bluetooth capability.

SUBARU WRX
Performance leaps to a higher level in the 2009 WRX thanks to a 265 horsepower turbocharged intercooled Boxer engine and retuned suspension. WRX enthusiasts will quickly identify the 2009 models by the ST-type grille and standard Aero Package. The 2009 Impreza WRX comes with a 5-speed manual transmission.

TOYOTA VENZA
Venza will raise the crossover vehicle to new levels by combining a unique blend of sedan refinement and sport utility vehicle (SUV) functionality. Power will be generated by an available 3.5-liter V6 that will produce 268 horsepower at 6,200 rpm and 246 lb.-ft. of torque at 4,700 rpm with a towing capability of 3,500 pounds.

*VOLKSWAGEN JETTA SPORTWAGEN
Staying true to Volkswagen’s long history of delivering performance and value, the Jetta SportWagen will be offered in three engine variations: the 2.5-liter, five cylinder engine that produces 170 horsepower and 177 lbs.-ft of torque; For those wanting more power, a 2.0-liter, turbo-charged, four cylinder engine that produces 200 hp and 207 lbs.-ft. of toque; and for customers desiring an efficient alternative fuel vehicle, the Jetta SportWagen TDI comes with an all-new 2.0L clean diesel engine that produces 140 hp, and an impressive 236 lbs.-ft. of torque.
